About Amber

What am doing now?

Currently, I am the Community Manger for Snaproute, Inc. and an advisor to the Open Compute Project (OCP) Foundation.

I believe that applying the principles and philosophies that have historically been found in open source software communities to other types of communities will drive innovation and build cohesive and collaborative teams while changing the landscape of that ecosystem.  By applying the experience and lessons learned in the Ubuntu, Linux on ARM (Linaro) and other open communities,  I help traditionally closed organizations learn to openly collaborate to drive innovation within the data center ecosystem. I believe in an ecumenical approach to open hardware–acknowledging that one size does not fit all and that there is a need and often a very good reason to differentiate.  Helping organizations find the balance between differentiation and collaboration in the open hardware ecosystem is what I am passionate about.  There is a time and place for both, let me help you figure out your organizations journey into open collaboration and innovation.

With a smile and a sense of humor, I remind people that there is a place for everyone in the open communities – regardless of technical skill level (or lack thereof). I’m constantly looking for people, places, and events within the Open Community ecosystem that help inspire individuals and organizations to actively participate within an Open Community that fits their interests and focus.

  • Hi,

Just following up as I didn’t hear back from you, sorry to email you again. I noticed your page (http://www.akgraner.com/?p=1058) links to timeanddate.com. Unfortunately, that site isn’t very accessible for the sight impaired. Would you consider adding a link to a more accessible version like http://www.thetimenow.com which is WCAG 2.0 compatible?

Also, if you ever want to see how accessible a page is, I recommend http://wave.webaim.org. It is really helpful.

    Thanks,
    Liz Ward
